Children's Ministries
Worship Folders/Children’s Time/Children’s Church:
Because our children and their spiritual growth are so important, Morning Worship includes special emphases for them. Worship Folders, created especially for children ages 3-12 and their parents, are available every Sunday. Midway through the service, the children are invited down to the chancel area to have a special message presented just for them by the Pastor or a member of the laity. Afterwards, ages 3-1st grade go to Children’s Church where they participate in age appropriate activities.

Church Nursery :::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::
A Nursery for children ages infant through 2 years is provided during Morning Worship. A Nursery is also provided for any major event.

Acolytes :::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::
Children in grades 3-6 serve as acolytes during Morning Worship. They light and extinguish the altar candles, pass out the offering plates to the ushers and help serve Communion.

Vacation Bible School :::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::
Vacation Bible School is held each summer during the month of June for ages 3-5th grade. Bible School meets from 9:00-11:30 a.m. for four days, Monday through Thursday, with a lunch and program for parents on the final day.

Children’s Sunday :::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::
Children's Sunday is observed in late winter or early spring. On this day, during Morning Worship, the children’s choir provides the music, and children serve as ushers, liturgists and greeters.

Easter Egg Hunt ::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::
Each year on the Saturday before Easter Sunday, the Children’s Ministry holds an Easter Egg Hunt for young children at the home of a church member. Hunting eggs, meeting the Easter Bunny hearing the story of Jesus and refreshments are enjoyed by children, parents and grandparents.

Breakfast With Santa :::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::
Breakfast With Santa is a fund raiser for the United Methodist Children’s Home. On the first Saturday in December Santa Claus visits the Zachry center and area children come and visit and have their picture taken with him. Cost includes a full breakfast prepared by the men of the church.

6 Ways 2 Praise Fine Arts Day Camp ::::::::::::::::::
For four days during the month of July, children from a 50 mile radius come to learn how to praise the Lord in different ways. Classes include Handbells, Drama, Signing, Art, Puppetry and other skills. The Camp is open to all rising 1st –12th grade students. Lunch and a camp tee shirt are included in the cost of $25.00. Scholarships are available.

Faithweavers :::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::
Faithweavers, a Bible exploration time for grades 1-5, meets on Wednesdays at 5:15 during the regular school year. A variety of engaging and memorable age-appropriate activities is employed.

Hand Chimes ::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::
All children in grades one through six are invited to play in the Hand Chime Choir. This choir meets each Wednesday during the school year from 4:45-5:15 p.m. in the Handbell Room on the third floor of the Education Building.
